Cajoled by neighbors to build a wine cave back in 2002, Jane Chapin hired the drilling crew to cut into a rock hillside below the Palisades at 4 Winds. We’re thrilled that she did.
Tucked into the landscape where a knoll rises near the guest house, a patio leads to the Y-shaped cave that stays a naturally cool 55-60 degrees Fahrenheit, year-round. In the rooms inside we keep a chateau stack of wine barrels—an estate library of 4 Winds vintages, along with our private wine collection.
The rock-walled cave blends into the rocky scenery, a near-hidden bunker for occasional family meals. Toasting now to the cave, one of our favorite places at 4 Winds.
